she was the eldest daughter.

Hestia's roman name was Vesta.  her symbol was fire.  Hearth as a symbol of life and home as

well as her altar.  The hearth was kept lit at mount. Olympus.

Ancient greeks prayed to Hestia before and after they  ate. The prayer goes like this...

oh,

lady

Hestia

virgin goddess

keeper of the hearth flame, I implor you

guide my heart head and hands to keep my

home beautiful, clean,

full of joy,

warm with

love.

every fire on earth was caused by Hestia.  When the fires were almost out and everyone

mouend from an old city one they would carry the live coals to the new city.

Hestia was the sweetest, gentlest and most generous of all the olympians, but she never married

or had children.  She never disagreed with any one, she never took sides with anyone in an

argument either. Hestia retained her virginity and became a re-born virgin (she was an eternal virgin).

Posiden, and Apollp sought to court her but she refused them both.
