About Us
The New Auburn High School sophomore English class (Class of 2008) took on a research project as part of an After-School grant. Mr. Howard Hanson, our District Administrator, proposed the project after meeting with community members. The Local History Committee wanted to create a school calendar with historical New Auburn pictures. Because the calendar only summarized the history, we decided to take the project one step further and actually document our findings. These documents were then published on a web site designed by the Computer Concepts class.
This web site would not be possible without members of the Local History Committee: Howard Hanson, Brian Henning, Mary Traaseth, Brenda Scheil, Elizabeth Rehrauer, Mary Erickson, Joan Erickson, Chuck Hanson, Ann Kuhlman, Barb Plummer, Virgene Cloutier, Lorena Grimm, Ramona North, Kathy Seilheimer, and Sue Trowbridge.
We are grateful to those who allowed us to interview them: Chuck Hansen, Wayne Pingel, Joan Tremblay, Joan Erickson, Ann Kuhlman, Barb Plummer, Genny Pederson. Also donating pictures and books were Susan Trowbridge, Ann Kuhlman, Wayne Pingel, and Barb Plummer.
Much material was found in local history publications. The New Auburn Centeninal Historical Album and Nestled Among the Lakes and Pines: A Centennial History of Sampson Township 1898 – 1998 by Tina Susedik provided important information.
