THE LIFE OF PHYLLIS REYNOLDS NAYLOR

INTRODUCTION-

Welcome to my web page on The Life of Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. You will find FAQ’s, where she lived, and much more.

BIOGRAPHY-

Phyllis Reynolds Naylor is 68 years old. She thinks that writing is the most important thing and she’ll never give it up! She has been writing for a very long time and enjoys what she writes. She liked to make up stories her whole life. She believes that what she writes is what she feels. If the book she is writing is sad, so is she.

Phyllis Naylor was born in Anderson, Indiana, in 1933. When she was young, she loved to play around on cardboard boxes and slide down hills on them. But her favorite thing to do was write. Then she lived in Bethesda, Maryland, with her husband Rex, and her two sons Jeff and Michael.

When she got to college, she was studying to be a clinical psychologist. Phyllis liked to write all kinds of stories. She usually wrote two books at a time. She starts on serious books and funny books in one day some in the morning, and some in the afternoon. She has written some books about witchcraft such as Witch’s Sister, Witch Water, and The Witch Herself. She has written some ghost books also like Shadows on the Wall, Faces in the Water, and Footprints at the Window.

She said one of her favorite books is A String of Chances. She says, "It’s about a sixteen year old girl named Evie Hutchins who, during a summer that shakes her faith in her deepest beliefs, is finally able to look at both herself and her family with a new perspective."

As Phyllis was growing up, she thought that the book was important, and that the authors weren’t. When she got in fifth grade, writing was her favorite thing to do. Her first book was published when she was 16 years old. She couldn’t wait to write books when she was little.

How I Came To Be A Writer

Alice On The Outside

She said, "My book’s are based on what has happened to me, things I have heard or read about, all mixed up with my imaginings." She imagines that the characters she is writing about comes alive and does what she writes. (Like a movie on the desk.) She imagines what she writes in her head.

I recommend the book Shiloh, because it is a very interesting book (my opinion). It is about a boy named Marty, who found a dog and he became best friends with the dog. He named it Shiloh. Marty was very nice to Shiloh and fed him even though his parents never knew about Shiloh. I don’t want to tell you too much about the book or the book wouldn’t be interesting anymore, so if you want to read a book about a dog, this is a great book.
